Discover is seeking a strategy & analytics professional with background in Payments, Banking, Financial or Insurance areas, and experienced in developing business strategies based on data and analytics.
The Fraud Strategy group analyzes vast amounts of account behavior and transactional data to develop and improve policies, processes and rules to combat fraud and manage fraud losses while balancing customer experience. These strategies need constant monitoring and adjustments, while addressing the evolving fraud patterns.
Assess trends, propose hypotheses and analyze data to detect constantly evolving fraud patterns.
Develop, implement and refine best-in-class fraud detection strategies that leverage historical data, customer usage profile and real time transactional data. Use standard analytic methods to analyze and improve fraud rule performance. Take ownership of fraud prevention strategies and manage fraud losses in assigned area of responsibility.
Develop effective performance tracking mechanisms to monitor and ensure that strategies are performing as expected; and incorporate learnings to improve strategies in a timely manner.
Establish strong working relationships with a range of business partners to conceive, research, and test new fraud detection and prevention strategies – particularly with teams in Operations, Infrastructure & Technology, Network, Risk Management, eBusiness, Rewards, Customer Experience, etc.
Manage multiple projects and initiatives by helping track benefits, requirements, milestones, communication, escalation and documentation related to those.
Provide support on ad-hoc strategic & analytical projects that aim to enhance the capabilities of the larger group.
Candidate is expected to have a good strategic and analytical background with a proven track record of conceptualizing hypothesis, utilizing data & analytics to build business case, socializing the impact/benefits and implementing strategies to improve relevant business metrics. Experience in fraud prevention/detection is a plus.
B.S. degree in STEM or a related quantitative field. Master’s in STEM or a related quantitative field is preferred.
Minimum 2 years of work experience in SQL programming required. Experience with SAS programming preferred.
Excellent communication (oral and written), presentation, project management and organizational skills
Understanding of card transaction processing infrastructure and fraud prevention strategies is preferred.
Experience in credit card space or overall payments / financial services industry is preferred.
