The Evaluation Systems group of Pearson offers dynamic teacher licensing and performance assessment solutions. Our custom teacher licensure testing programs are 100 percent aligned to state standards. We also provide a wide variety of teacher licensure testing services such as test development, administration, and scoring. We work in a collaborative environment and are passionate about education. The Evaluation Systems group of Pearson works with multiple partners, including other Pearson groups, to develop and maintain highly scalable Web applications. These applications share information between Pearson groups, customers, and clients. Development and testing follow the agile methodology. The Software Developer is responsible for the design, and development of complex software applications in a team environment. The Software Developer works with both offshore and on-site development teams. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Develop, and maintain software applications by following Pearson practices and standards Engage with product managers, project managers, business analysts, systems architects, software developers, software quality assurance analysts, and database administrators to share understanding of project goals and tasks Collaborate with business analysts to develop align business goals and requirements with technical specifications Understand and promote best practices for software security, performance, and maintainability Participate in code reviews with peers and supervisor Employ strong organizational and planning skills to estimate project work and keep projects on schedule Collaborate with project team and stakeholders providing development estimates and feedback on proposed scheduling Provide support to operational teams for troubleshooting and evaluating solutions for production software systems Prepare regular reports on all assigned activities as required by supervisor Develop software testing and deployment processes for newly developed software Advise software quality assurance group on development of test plans for integration and system test coverage and execution Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bacheloru2019s degree in Computer Science or related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills may be acquired 2 - 5 years experience developing software with a team 2 years of data modeling, analysis, data protection preferably using Microsoft SQL Server 2 years experience developing secure web services using SOAP/WCF/Web API or similar protocols and technologies Experience with release engineering, systems integration or configuration management experience building and deploying web-based or distributed applications using Microsoft tools and technologies including Visual Studio, Windows Server, IIS, ASP.NET, ASP, SQL Server Experience with build automation, continuous integration and other Agile development techniques preferred KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Experience building web and client-server applications and services using Microsoft tools and technologies such as C#, ASP.NET, WCF, MVC, Web API, SQL Server Experience complying with standards for mission-critical enterprise software requirements for system performance, scalability, security, data protection and encryption, regulation compliance, usability, ease of implementation, supportability, maintainability, and data center considerations Good understanding of client-side technologies like JavaScript frameworks/libraries, CSS/SASS/LESS frameworks, AJAX/XMLHttpRequest, JSON, HTML5. Working knowledge of web standards and web browser capabilities; ability to create cross-browser, cross-platform, WCAG 2.0 Compliant/accessible pages Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Experience with agile/iterative software development methodologies Ability to gather and document system requirements and technical architecture Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as a member of a team Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities Ability to work in a deadline driven environment Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing Excellent customer service attitude Location: Hadley, MA (Not remote) #LI-NS Pearson is an Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action Employer and a member of E-Verify.
