Job Summary
UPS established the Enterprise Data Office (EDO) to execute our Enterprise Data Strategy (EDS). The EDO drives execution of the strategy, helps improve data quality, optimize data management practices, and data related tooling across UPS, while transforming our corporate culture to become more data fluent, data savvy and competitive in the industry. The journey UPS is embarking on is set to take our digital journey to the next level.
As a member of UPS’s Enterprise Data Office, you will support the implementation of UPS’s data strategy with a focus on strengthening the organization’s data management capabilities and expanding the use of data. The incumbent will work to implement a diverse portfolio of work streams; provide day-to-day support across internal teams; conduct research and analysis in area of data management, data technologies and provides day-to-day support for data governance.
Responsibilities
Enhances UPS’s data landscape, planning and delivery, working with global leadership and teams of technologists to ensure premium data infrastructure/governance to build a permanent data management organization
Maintains the data strategy and provides recommendations to evolve the strategy in alignment with changing business needs of UPS and technological changes
Develops a strategy to consistently/effectively leverage 1st party data to create a holistic view of the customer that enables media activation, targeting, digital personalization, and measurement
Supports management of UPS’s data standards and best practices
Partners with business partners, communicating value, listening to feedback, tuning/optimizing processes, solutions, and technology to meet business needs
Identifies and documents cross-team requirements for all data projects and integrations, ensures that documentation is available to with data governance and data integration teams
Engages in road mapping and prioritization through diligent analysis and scoping efforts for the data platform build up including identification of new data sources and new use cases
Champions a culture of data education, awareness and adoption of changing practices and technologies
Identifies and implements key operational metrics and track performance against objectives of the Enterprise Data Strategy
Helps facilitate the intake process, ensuring needs from the business are vetted, tracked and allocated to individuals in a timely manner
Creates and utilizes presentation materials/visualization tools to support the use of data for internal planning, decision-making, and monitoring
Works with senior leaders to support executive communications, board of director’s meetings, and investor relations initiatives
Builds strong partnerships with internal/external stakeholders to represent the needs for the Enterprise Data Office
Preferences
Minimum 3 years of experience working in a data environment in a direct/indirect capacity in an agile environment
Demonstrates ability to engage individuals respectfully and effectively from different cultures/backgrounds
Displays strong organizational skills including leading initiatives and modest projects; handles multiple tasks and deliverables simultaneously; a track record of exercising independent judgment appropriately; ability to quickly understand/execute complex assignments when working on high profile outcomes with inherent risk
Possesses knowledge of organizational change management principles including leading change; building a coalition; anticipating resistance to change; designing/implementing appropriate strategies; institutionalizing change
Analyzes market trends, competitor actions, and the geopolitical environment to understand implications and recommend potential changes to the company’s corporate strategy
Creates and delivers presentations and communications, including the ability to anticipate, influence and adapt to a wide range of audiences; building consensus to facilitate decision making
Balances a deep technical knowledge with an ability to clearly communicate complex solutions to less technical stakeholders
Displays ability to operate effectively/collaboratively in a fast-paced, changing environment
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint)
Experience with data management practices, including privacy and security protocols, data quality systems, data sharing practices, working with data tools
Experience with SQL (data extraction), Tableau/Looker or PowerBI (data visualization) and presenting to an Executive audience
Experience leveraging and developing data management platforms and customer data platforms - Preferred
Experience using cloud-based solutions such as Azure for storage and computing (Blob, Azure Data Lake, Synapse, and Data Bricks) - Preferred
Experience working in a matrix environment and managing cross-functional projects - Preferred
