HEALTHCARE DATA ANALYST - HOSPITAL QUALITY AND INNOVATION','OTH01PXK','!*!This
position may involve support of various hospitals and health care systems
within the UNC Health Care System, but will be employed by Rex Hospital, Inc.
(this includes, but is not limited to, for purposes of payroll, health
benefits, retirement options, and applicable policies)
The HQI Data Leader is responsible for
providing analytic support to improve patient care and safety as well as meet
our quality-related regulatory (CMS and The Joint Commission), quality
incentive (CMS, NCBCBS, United, Cigna) and public reporting (Leapfrog)
programs. Groups supported include the Quality Improvement Oversight Committee,
Chief Medical Officers, Quality Directors, Coaches and Analysts and front line
staff supporting quality improvement initiatives.
Key
responsibilities include:
Create, manage and distribute
standard and ad hoc reports to support improvement, regulatory, incentive and
public reporting include reductions in mortality, readmissions, infections and
complications of care.
Develop dashboards in Tableau and
Excel (and other platforms as appropriate) to explore and explain quality and
patient safety data. Manage Enterprise quality-focused Tableau dashboards.
Provide consultation and training
related to data collection, management, analysis and reporting across a variety
of data platforms including Business Objects, Epic, Excel, Tableau and the
Vizient Clinical Database.
Collaborate with end users to
understand and define their data needs. Develop appropriate technical
specifications and project management plans to satisfy these requirements.
•Provide consultative and analytical
support including design, implementation, coordination, and data querying to
support clinical improvement work.
Design and produce high-quality
analytic products for the appropriate audience. Understand how to structure the
data in a way that communicates existing trends and patterns.
Communicate effectively with all
levels of stakeholders as appropriate, including executives, clinical staff,
other analytics departments, and end users.
•Maintain strong attention to
details and prioritize workload while meeting deliverables and expectations.
This position is part of the UNC
Health Care System's Hospital Quality and Innovation Department. The Data
Analyst should be a self-starter, be able to work independently and
collaboratively in a complex environment, and demonstrate strong interpersonal,
written and oral communication skills. Occasional travel to UNC Health Care
System hospitals is expected.
Preferred
Qualifications:
Strongly Preferred: Knowledge and
experience with relational databases, data analysis and data
visualization. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required.
Self-motivated; ability to take initiative on projects and ability to work
independently. Strong communications skills. Experience in health care industry
& with health care data.
Preferred: Prefer Business Objects,
Epic EMR report writing skills and Tableau dashboard experience. Prefer
candidates with experience with in some of the following topics: health care
incentive and public-reporting programs including CMS's Meaningful Use
(Eligible Hospital), Value-based Purchasing, Hospital Acquired Conditions,
Readmission Reduction and 5-Star Rating and the Leapfrog Survey and Hospital
Safety Score.

Bachelor’s degree in
an appropriate discipline.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
No licensure or
certification required.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Two (2) years of
experience in healthcare business intelligence and analytics.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS
BI Technical:
Proficiency of BI data and query tools. Self-directed insightful analytics and
synthesis. Proficient use of financial, market, clinical, operational datasets.
Understand clinical coding & grouper methodologies. Proficiency in clinical
cohort analysis. Advanced Excel Pivot table skills. Broad knowledge of data
warehouses, data marts and business intelligence solutions (prev experience
with SQL, Business Objects, decision support systems, Epic or Clarity Report
development a plus). Ideas and Impact: Distill insight from analysis. Go beyond
obvious. Prioritize analyses. Use clear logic to design and sanity check
analysis. Conduct complex modeling. Demonstrate understanding of client problem
and need analysis. Perform accurate analysis. Project Management: Majority of
